Dates: June 19th to the 27th, 2019 (that is right 8 nights in Costa Rica)

Cost of Conference Package: $ 2345 based on double occupancy. (you must find your own room mate) Cost includes conference fee, at least 21 hours of training and educational activities, 8 nights accommodation, transfers from and to airport, guided transportation/tour of children’s programs, cultural and educational programs, travel insurance, English speaking guide, breakfast each day, 4 lunches and 1 dinner. (Air fare and possible credit card fee are not included.)

DAY-BY-DAY ITINERARY, FEATURES

Day 1: Jun 19 | Welcome to San Jose, Costa Rica!
Your EcoAmerica Tours representative will greet you at the airport, assist you with your luggage and provide you with a private van transfer to the Wyndham Herradura Hotel for an overnight stay. Balance of the day is at leisure enjoying the facilities of the resort-like hotel.

In San Jose: Wyndham Plaza Herradura Hotel. With a prime location just minutes from San Jose’s International Airport (SJO), visitors to Costa Rica’s capital city will find the Wyndham the ideal retreat, with a wealth of amenities, an idyllic setting and world-class service. There are three restaurants and a stylish bar offering a variety of cuisines, and a daily bountiful, complimentary breakfast buffet. Each of the hotel’s 230 over-sized, 100% non-smoking guest rooms features contemporary styling, a unique fusion of warm and cool tones and thoughtful amenities like a flat panel TV, free Wi-Fi, plush bedding and ultra-modern air conditioning. Day 2: Jun 20 | San Jose to Arenal via La Paz Waterfall & Gardens | B.L.
After an early breakfast at your San Jose hotel, meet your guide for a Group Transfer to the Arenal Volcano Park Area with stops en-route at Doka Coffee Plantation and La Paz Waterfall and Gardens (training) with Lunch included.
After lunch, continue your journey to Arenal and check-in at the Magic Mountain Hotel – Standard Volcano-View Room for a four night stay with taxes and daily breakfast included.

In Arenal: Magic Mountain Hotel is a colonial modern hotel, located in La Fortuna facing the Arenal Volcano providing visitors with a stunning view of the colossal Volcano Arenal. It is surrounded by an exotic tropical zone, lush foliage and magnificent scenery. This property offers a prime location, panoramic volcano views, luxury accommodations and unrivaled service. We are nearby to downtown shops, souvenirs and other points of interest as well as the hot springs. All guest rooms feature an outdoor balcony or terrace that overlook the Volcano and are impeccably furnished with tiled private bathrooms, desk, and either a king bed or two double beds. For your convenience, all guest rooms are equipped with high-speed wireless internet access, telephone line and an in-room safe. The hotel has swimming pools, Jacuzzis, elevator, Spa, meeting and conference space, and innovative international cuisine at Lina’s Restaurant and at Magic Sport’s Bar. Hotel Magic Mountain staff will always make every effort to provide their guests with an unforgettable experience.

Day 3: Jun 21 | Maleku Experience / Hogarcito San Bosco | B.L.
After breakfast at the hotel meet your driver for a short transfer to the Maleku Village.(training) The Maleku Indian Tribe is the smallest in Costa Rica with only 650 people left! Living off the land is what the Maleku know and need to survive. The jungles & forests provide everything they need. The Maleku community keeps its traditions, culture and the Maleku language alive and they are very proud to have done so.

While visiting the Maleku Village, you will learn about their cultural worldview, their origins, their beliefs, and the great respect they have for the natural environment. The tribe’s shaman will guide you on a short trail in the forest where you can learn about the different medicinal plants they use. Halfway down the path, you will come to the Maleku Sacred Tree where daily they offer their prayers and experiment the cacao ritual.

After learning about the history of the Maleku people and walk through the reforestation project and medicinal gardens, you will enjoy a traditional Maleku lunch, spend time with the women and children of the community painting your own Maleku art piece and partaking in a traditional Maleku ceremony.

In the afternoon, you will visit the Arenal Children’s Foster Home, also known as Hogarcito San Bosco. (training) The Hogarcito works with boys and girls at social risk and abandonment. As the mission statement of the Hogarcito indicates, their purpose is to give the children their fundamental right as a human being to not be in a place of risk and to have a bright future. The Hogarcito is considered not just as a shelter but a new home and it does not matter if the child is there for a day, a month or a year because for them, all these children deserve a better life!

Day 4: Jun 22 | Cano Negro Wildlife Refuge Boat Safari | B.L.
The Cano Negro Wildlife Refuge (training) is located in the Frio River and both are biological humid areas considered to be one of the richest in biological diversity in Costa Rica. Here you can find a great variety of resident and migratory birds. Your floating safari will take you through tropical rain forest, pastures, and marsh, where you can see howler monkeys, spider monkeys, white-faced monkeys, the three-toed sloth, reptiles like caimans, the Jesus Christ lizard, turtles, and an almost endless selection or birds. Around noon we will stop along the river for a typical Costa Rican lunch before heading back to Arenal.

Day 5: Jun 23 | Sky Tram & Sky Walk / EcoTermales Thermal Pools | B.L.D.
After breakfast at the hotel, meet your driver for a transfer to the Sky Park, a private reserve located on the north-facing slopes of the Cordillera de Tilaran that offers phenomenal views of the Arenal Volcano, to begin your adventure:
Sky Tram – Gondola Panoramic Views. The Sky Tram gondolas rise smoothly through the rain forest, offering up endless views during their mountainous ascent. This tour is perfect for people who want to take a different approach on admiring nature, without much physical effort but still be on spot where natures exhibits all its magic. On tour you will be attended by a bilingual guide who will point out different characteristics of the flora and fauna and other interesting facts (training). The Sky Tram travels up the mountains to arrive in a wide observation platform on the highest point of the reserve, where you can enjoy the breathtaking view of Lake Arenal.

Sky Walk – Hanging Bridges. Sky Walk uses trails and a series of suspension bridges for a more relaxing introduction of the flora and fauna of the forest canopy. It allows a vision of the forest from a different perspective which starts with a hike on the ground and then taking you to explore the treetops, a hardly discovered habitat called the canopy with a naturalist guide. Sky Walk’s bridges span across canyons and bring visitors face to face with the upper level of the forest canopy. The Sky Walk hanging bridges are perfect to discover the exuberant Arenal Rain Forest from all perspectives, while also enjoying great views and waterfalls.

Lunch will be served at the park before returning to the hotel. In the afternoon, relax in the thermal hot springs and pools at the Ecotermales Thermal Pools. Ecotermales Fortuna is the crown jewel of a family owned and operated farm. EcoTermales is located on the foothills of the mighty Arenal Volcano, amidst the calm beauty of a lush tropical forest. EcoTermales offers their guests the unique opportunity to enjoy magnificent views of the volcano while wondering around the nature trails observing different species of birds native to the region. At the end of the trails, guests will enjoy four hot springs pools and refresh themselves with a cold tropical drink prepare by a member of the family. Following their relaxing hot springs mineral water experience, guests will savor a homemade meal (with handmade tortillas included) at the farm’s main rancho, where other member of the family will make certain that your visit ends with a great meal and attentive service (cultural training).

Day 6: Jun 24 | Arenal / Tamarindo Beach in the Coast of Guanacaste | B.
After breakfast at the hotel and at the prearranged time, meet your driver for a Group Transfer to the Northwest Coast of Guanacaste for a three night stay at the Tamarindo Diria Beach Hotel – Standard Room with taxes and daily breakfast included. Balance of the day will include training and leisure time enjoying the pool or the beach.

In Tamarindo Beach: Tamarindo Diria Hotel:  A peaceful tropical setting with all of the excitement and adventure that you desire, at the Hotel Tamarindo Diria on the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica. Relax in the refreshing pool, or take a refreshing dip in the warm clear waters of the resplendent Tamarindo shoreline. Each air conditioned room features two double beds, cable television, direct dial telephones and mini bar.

Days 7 & 8: Jun 25 & 26 | Enjoying the Beach! | B.           FREE Days on your own
These are two full days at leisure at the beach. Slow down and enjoy.

Day 9: Jun 27 | Tamarindo Beach / Liberia Intl. Airport / Home | B.
At the designated time, one of our local drivers will provide you with a private group transfer to the Liberia airport to check-in for your onward flight.

Cancellations: Cancellations will only be accepted in writing. Refunds will be based on cancellation fees at time of cancellation. Deposit is non-refundable.

Amending a booking: If you wish to make any changes after your booking has been confirmed, a change fee of $35.00 per transaction will apply. To amend a booking, please send us your request via email.

Photo and video release: By registering for this conference package you are giving Zepeda Learning and Leadership permission to use photos and videos of you in social media, promotional materials, education materials and presentations.
