8:00 am – 11:00 am Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder in Children This training will examine Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder. We will examine new research and known distinctions of the disability. The class will cover strategies for child care providers to assist with inclusion of children with FASD in typical child care settings. 3 hours Set 2 (CKC) Special Needs, Ages ALL. 11:30 am – 5:30 pm Nature and the Arts : Designing and Evaluating Art Experiences – Lets get together and design some fun art experiences out in nature and using nature as our inspiration. As we design the experiences we will discuss the evaluation of the experiences, how they fit into your program philosophy, how they can be adapted for all ages. Lets not forget educating parents and community members about these art experiences. Participants will explore ways to encourage inclusion by adapting the activities that are commonplace in most child care programs. Participants will also have the opportunity to practice creating some adapted materials and take some examples home with them. 11:30 am to 2:30 pm Cultural Explorations in Child Care Settings This class will explore a variety of activities, at all age ranges, to assist providers in developing a   multicultural child care environment. Providers will examine ways to incorporate multiculturalism  seamlessly into the child care environment. Bring your ideas to share. 3 hours Set 2 (CKC) Diversity, Ages ALL. 2:45 pm to 5:45 pm The Role of Technology in Nature – We will explore approaches, strategies, and tools to promote development and learning in nature. We explore using technology as a tool to promote development and learning with nature. Opening the door and exploring the outdoors is a fantastic tool to promote children’s development. Bringing the nature in doors is also a great tool for your program.   Set Two; 3 hours; CKC LEC; All Ages Cost: First person $60, 1/2 price each additional person from same program.

2:45 to 5:45 pm Observing and Assessing Children’s Play to Meet your Programs Play Philosophy Part 1 – Use the Play Checklist and Planning Form to evaluate the children’s play, Use the form to plan activities that will help children move to the next developmental stage of play. You will be able to use these tools to collaborate with families, co-workers and referral specialists, and evaluate your program philosophy. You will develop a system to evaluate your play-based program. Set Three; 6 hours; CKC 5 OA and 1 LEC. You must attend both sessions. 2:45 pm to 6:45 pm Diversity Exploration – Genealogy with Children and Families – Let’s explore diversity – what makes us different and alike? We will explore our cultural, ethnic and ancestral identity. Explore and discuss several genealogy activities that you can do with the families who attend your program. Are we all cousins? We will examine DNA and family trees. To prepare for the training research your family including geographical, culture and ethnicity. Set Two; 4 HOurs; CKC 2 D & 2 FCS; Infant/Toddler, Preschool.
