Integrating mathematics into the early childhood environment Children investigate and develop cognitive skills by touching, handling, doing and exploring. Examine ways to throw out the worksheets and create a math rich environment where children can explore and learn mathematical concepts naturally. April 4, 2020 8:30 am – 3:00 pm (working lunch) Diversity Exploration – Genealogy with Children and Families – Let’s explore diversity – what makes us different and alike? We will explore our cultural, ethnic and ancestral identity. Explore and discuss several genealogy activities that you can do with the families who attend your program. Are we all cousins? We will examine DNA and family trees. To prepare for the training research your family including geographical, culture and ethnicity. April 9, 2020 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm Strategies to Support Learning and Development Using Technology –Explore different forms of technology to promote children’s development and learning. Participants will discuss developmentally appropriate ways to use technology with children of all ages. Explore different forms of technology that providers may choose to use in their programs. April 11, 2020 – 8:30 am – 12:30 pm with working lunch – Stress Busters – Exploring Strategies to Minimize Stress and Burnout Participants will examine the stress they experience working in the field of childhood care and education. We will examine the signs, symptoms and medical risks of stress and burnout. We will explore approaches, techniques, strategies and tools to reduce stress and burnout. Participants will create a stress busting plan. Set Two; 4 hours; CKC PPLD Cost: $80.00, additional staff from same program $15.00 each

April 11, 2020 1:30 – 4:30 PM Science Fun Strategies For All Ages – Participants will explore science experiments that promote development and learning. We will examine how teaching fun science experiments, develops children’s development and learning. Science strategies teach math skills, cause and effect, cognitive development, language arts, vocabulary, teamwork, and social skills. We will explore how to adapt science experiments for children of all ages.   Set Two; 3 hour training, CKC LEC Cost: $60, additional staff from same program $10.00 each.

April 13, 2020 6:00 pm- 9:00 pm – Children at Play- Brains at Work – Come to explore many types of play, and examine theories of Piaget and Vygotsky on how children learn through play. Investigate how play activities promote cognitive, social, emotional, and physical developmental domains and link to brain processes. Develop play activities that interest children, involve senses, strengthen domains, and build brains.  Set Two; CKC HGD; 3 hours; Infant/Toddler, Preschool; Cost: $60, additional staff from same program $10.00 each

This training will explore methods to maintain positive communication with parents even when discussing difficult things as well as how the provider can be supportive to parents and manage conflicts with families when they arise Set 2; 6 hours (CKC) Families and Community Systems; Ages NOT APPLICABLE; Cost $120, additional staff from same program $20.00 each
