At this time all scheduled classes are interactive webinars except some CPR classes – you will need a device with a camera, microphone and speakers to participate.

The Family Child Care (FCC) Scholarship can be used to pay for any of our set 2 or 3 classes including home study modules. You can find the online application at PSU – OCCD. There are also reimbursement funds for CPR and first aid training you can learn more at WOU. At this time we are offering a very discounted rate for additional participants from the same setting.

June 5, 2023 6 PM to 9 PM De-escalation: A Fancy Word for Helping A Child Calm Who Can’t Do It By Themselves – Set 2; 3 hours; UGB– This course will examine the curve of escalation to understand how best to approach a situation at different times. June 9, 2023 6 PM to 9 PM Cooking Nutritious Meals with Children – Set 2; 3 hours; HSN – Exposing children to healthy nutritious eating, like most learning, is best done hands-on. This class will explore how to apply nutrition guidelines and encourage children to participate in the preparation of healthy foods. June 12, 2023 6 PM to 9 PM How to Implement an Inclusive Environment to Serve Children with ADHD – Set 2; 3 hours; SN; All ages – In this class we will explore modifications to teaching styles, schedules, and environments to allow for the inclusion of children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in its 3 currently identified presentations. We will examine new research and known distinctions of the disability. Investigate how play activities promote cognitive, social, emotional, and physical developmental domains and link to brain processes. We will examine the signs, symptoms and medical risks of stress and burnout. We will explore approaches, techniques, strategies and tools to reduce stress and burnout. Biting Hurts: Implementing Best Practices In Early Childhood Care – Set 2; 3 Hour; 1 FCS and 2 UGB – Come to this training to explore strategies providers can use to help infants, toddlers and preschoolers curb the urge to bite. When is biting a normal developmental stage and when is it concerning? How to document incidents. Examine current research: how children’s brains learn words and what words mean. Practice language development strategies: parentese, naming, and content words.
