If one of these trainings interests you, check our schedule. If you cannot find the training you want or if you want to host an in-person training for your program, let us know.
Come to explore many types of play, and examine theories of Piaget and Vygotsky on how children learn through play. Investigate how play activities promote cognitive, social, emotional, and physical developmental domains and link to brain processes. Develop play activities that interest children, involve senses, strengthen domains, and build brains.
Build upon your knowledge of early brain development. Explore current research connecting early brain development with language development and early literacy skills. Develop strategies to translate research findings into information you provide to parents. Develop strategies to incorporate research findings into your work with children in storytelling and book sharing.
Come explore the neurodevelopment processes of early brain development, with an in-depth look at a specific brain development theory. Examine what a healthy brain looks like; what has a negative impact on brain development, and what we can do to build healthy and strong brains.
Explore theories of how adults develop and learn. Apply concepts from theories, including stages of Women’s Ways of Knowing, to your work as a trainer, mentor, and leader in a female-intensive field.
Cultivating Words, Nurturing Literacy, and Growing the Brain
Trainer Faye Zepeda
Explore new scientific discoveries: how brain wiring is densely interconnected, and how interactions change this wiring. Examine current research: how children’s brains learn words and what words mean. Practice language development strategies: parentese, naming, and content words. Develop early literacy materials that strengthen word maps and categorization of words.
Work with Experienced Explorers: Facilitate Learning for Adults
Trainer Faye Zepeda
Capable, accomplished, and skilled: the adult learner is different from the child learner. Explore what we already know about child development and learning. Uncover your own ideas about how adults learn. Examine adult development theories and principles. Investigate research regarding training strategies in the early childhood profession. Develop ways you can put these ideas into practice in your training sessions.
You can complete these trainings at home at your own pace.
Attachment Theories and the Child Care Provider’s Role
Trainer Joyce McCoy
This class will examine theories of how children develop attachment and the child care provider’s role in strengthening attachment. The role attachment plays in resiliency in children will be explored.
